Antalya Catamaran Charter: Rüzgar Gülü and Lagoon 450

Two catamarans with four cabins each: Rüzgar Gülü, a Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42 taken bareboat from Kemer Marina at 15,000 TL a day, and the skippered Lagoon 450 F at Setur Antalya Marina at 22,000 TL a day.

Two hulls with the saloon bridged between them behave differently from a single-hulled yacht in exactly the two situations that put people off boats: lying at anchor and sailing in a breeze. A catamaran hardly rolls at anchor and sails close to upright instead of heeling, so plates stay on the table and children walk about rather than brace. The deck is wide and flat and the cockpit is on one level with the saloon, which is why these are the two boats we hand to families.

ALUA has one of each kind. Rüzgar Gülü is a 2021 Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42, 12.2 metres, four cabins, eight guests, berthed at Kemer Marina and chartered bareboat at 15,000 TL a day or 88,000 TL a week. The Lagoon 450 F, launched in 2020, is 13.9 metres with four cabins and ten guests, lies at Setur Antalya Marina in Konyaaltı and comes with a skipper at 22,000 TL a day or 132,000 TL a week. Four cabins on either means two couples and children, or four pairs.

Seasickness and the afternoon breeze

The gulf is calm in the morning and picks up 10 to 15 knots of sea breeze after midday, with the swell building towards late afternoon. That is the part of the day anyone prone to seasickness notices, and it is where twin hulls earn the extra money: the boat stays level, the motion is a lift rather than a roll, and the shaded cockpit is a step from the saloon rather than down a companionway. Both catamarans draw little water, so they anchor well in where it is flattest.

Bareboat on Rüzgar Gülü, skippered on the Lagoon 450

The two are chartered on different terms. Rüzgar Gülü goes out bareboat from Kemer Marina, so one person aboard must hold a valid Amatör Denizci Belgesi or an accepted international equivalent; the document is checked at the pontoon and followed by a briefing of roughly an hour. The Lagoon 450 includes a skipper in its 22,000 TL rate, with no paperwork and no experience required — useful when a group wants the deck space without anyone having to take charge of the boat.

Where each one goes

Rüzgar Gülü starts 45 kilometres down the coast at Kemer Marina, the closest berth to Phaselis, the Üç Adalar, Adrasan and the Olimpos and Çıralı shore; three days covers that ground with short hops between anchorages. The Lagoon 450 leaves from Setur Antalya Marina, 15 kilometres from the airport with parking inside the marina, and works the Falez cliffs and Sıçan Adası on a day charter — the simpler choice if you are flying in and going out on the water the same day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why charter a catamaran with small children?

+

Because of how it sits in the water. There is very little roll at anchor, almost no heel under sail, and a wide flat deck with the cockpit level with the saloon, so a child is not climbing in and out of a sloping cabin. Rüzgar Gülü takes eight guests and the Lagoon 450 ten, each in four cabins. Lifejackets are carried on board — tell us the children's ages when you book.

I get seasick. Will a catamaran help?

+

Usually, for two reasons: the boat does not heel under sail, and at anchor the twin hulls damp the roll most people react to. Mornings here are flat in any case, so if you are sensitive, go out early and be in a cove before the breeze reaches 10 to 15 knots. Taking the Lagoon 450 with its skipper also lets you sit still rather than work the boat.

Do we need a certificate for either catamaran?

+

For Rüzgar Gülü, yes: it is a bareboat charter, so one person on board must hold a valid Amatör Denizci Belgesi or an accepted equivalent such as an ICC or RYA Day Skipper certificate, checked at Kemer Marina during handover. For the Lagoon 450 at Setur Antalya Marina, no — the skipper is included in the daily rate and no licence is asked for.

What does a week on a catamaran cost?

+

88,000 TL on Rüzgar Gülü and 132,000 TL on the Lagoon 450, against daily rates of 15,000 and 22,000 TL, so a week is roughly six days' money. Across eight guests the Astrea 42 comes to 11,000 TL a person for seven days aboard. Fuel, harbour fees away from the home marina and provisioning are charged separately.

Can ten people sleep on the Lagoon 450?

+

Ten is the day-charter capacity. For nights aboard, count cabins: four on both catamarans, which is eight berths at two to a cabin. A party of eight fits either boat for a week without anyone improvising a bed. If ten of you want to sleep aboard, ask the office how the Lagoon 450 is laid out before you book the week.

A catamaran costs more per day than a single-hulled yacht of similar length and buys steadiness and deck space in return: 15,000 TL bareboat from Kemer Marina on Rüzgar Gülü, 22,000 TL skippered from Konyaaltı on the Lagoon 450, four cabins either way.
